Neurosurgery | Christopher J. Baker, MD
Medical Director, Florida Hospital Orlando Spine Center
Dr. Baker is board certified in Neurosurgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He graduated with honors from Johns Hopkins University and received his medical education at the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. He completed his neurosurgical training at the Neurosurgical Institute of New York (Columbia University). Dr. Baker is the recipient of the AANS/CNS Galbraith Award for excellence in cerebrovascular research and the NOVA Award for clinical excellence in neurosurgery. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
Neurosurgery | Melvin Field, MD
Dr. Field completed his undergraduate and medical school training at the University of Florida where he was a Florida Academic Scholar, graduated with highest honors, and was selected to the University’s Junior Honor’s Medical Program. He completed his internship in general surgery and residency in neurological surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. While there, Dr. Field received numerous honors for his research in cerebrovascular disease and in the management of sports-related neurosurgical injuries. Dr. Field’s current areas of clinical interest include endoscopic and minimally invasive cranial and spinal neurosurgery (for brain tumors, pituitary tumors and various spinal disorders), complex spinal surgery, Gamma Knife Stereotactic Radiosurgery, and surgical management of neurovascular compression syndromes (including Trigeminal Neuralgia and Hemifacial Spasm).
Neurosurgery | Ravi Gandhi, MD
Dr. Ravi Hemant Gandhi joined the celebrated medical team at Orlando Neurosurgery following an intensive cerebrovascular and skull base neurosurgery fellowship at Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine in Indianapolis, Ind. and a similarly exhaustive neuroendovascular fellowship at Albany Medical Center in New York. An accomplished neurosurgeon with nearly a decade of experience and a wide variety of peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and oral presentations before prestigious medical forums to his name, he has a special interest in the detection and treatment of complex brain and spinal tumors, blood vessel disease of the head and neck, and emergency treatment of neurological trauma and stroke. An award-winning student, Dr. Gandhi earned his medical degree at Saint George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, and completed both his surgery internship and neurosurgery residency at Albany Medical Center.Dr. Gandhi adds to the impressive line-up of top Florida physicians under the Orlando Neurosurgery banner, and his expertise in skull base surgery and advanced diagnostic capabilities further bolster the multi-specialty practice’s unique position among neurosurgical providers. Together with Drs. Neurosurgery | Donald L. Behrmann, MD, PhD
Dr. Behrmann is board certified in Neurosurgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He received his medical degree from Indiana University and served his internship at Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his neurosurgery residency and received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from The Ohio State University. Dr. Behrmann’s areas of specialization include spinal disorders with instrumentation and tumors of the central nervous system. He is a Gamma Knife certified neurosurgeon. Dr. Behrmann is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the Neurotrauma Society.
Neurosurgery | David Rosen, MD
David S. Rosen, MD, is fellowship trained in neurosurgical oncology, specializing in tumors of the central nervous system and minimally invasive spine and brain surgery. Dr. Rosen also specializes in the treatment of cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine conditions, using surgical and non-surgical methods for the treatment of degenerative disc disease, stenosis, myelopathy, radiculopathy, instability, sciatica and back pain. Dr. Rosen has published more than 20 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and presented research at more than 40 national and international conferences on topics including minimally invasive treatment of spinal stenosis in the elderly and minimally invasive lumbar fusion in obese patients. He is active in the study of brain tumors and spine surgery with research goals focusing on improving the safety, efficacy and comfort of neurosurgical procedures.
Neurosurgery | John Jenkins, MD
Dr. Jenkins is a skilled neurosurgeon with expertise in radiosurgery and minimally invasive brain and spine surgery at Florida Hospital Orlando and Winter Park Memorial Hospital. He specializes in brain tumors, intracranial vascular abnormalities and complex spine conditions (including trauma). Dr. Jenkins received his medical degree at the University of Texas. He completed a general surgery internship and neurological surgery fellowship at Ohio State University.
Pain Management | Evans Amune, MD
Dr. Amune is an anesthesiologist and pain management specialist board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and the American Board of Pain Medicine. He is a member of the JLR Medical Group, which provides anesthesia, critical care, and pain management services to Florida Hospital. Dr. Amune completed his fellowship at the Mayo Clinic Foundation in Jacksonville, Florida where he was chief resident. Prior to that, he completed his anesthesia residency at the Mayo Clinic Foundation in Rochester, Minnesota, and did his surgical residency at the Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia and the Medical College of Virginia. He is an active member of the American Board of Anesthesiology, American Academy of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, International Spine Injection Society, the American Medical Association, the North American Spine Society, the American Surgical Association, the American Academy of Pain Medicine and the Florida Society of Anesthesiology. Dr. Amunes principle areas of interest include minimally invasive spine surgery, vertebroplasty, ventral transforaminal neuroplasty, intradiscal procedures such as discography, IDET, percutaneous discectomy, and LASE.
Pain Management | Anand Patel, MD
Dr. Patel is a member of the JLR Medical Group, which provides anesthesia, critical care, and pain management services to Florida Hospital. He completed his fellowship in interventional pain management at Cornell in 2008. Prior to that, he completed his residency in anesthesiology at New York Presbyterian-Cornell in 2007. He finished his internship at New York Presbyterian-Cornell. He attended medical school at Georgetown University where he successfully graduated with a Master's Degree in Physiology and Biophysics. Dr. Patel is proud to have attended the University of Florida’s College of Medicine, which he graduated from in 2003. He had also done his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida where he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Neuroscience in 1998. He is an active member of the American Board of Anesthesiology, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. Dr. Patel’s principle areas of interest include chronic spine pain with use of fluoroscopy guided injection therapy along with radiofrequency.
Pain Medicine | Ricardo Nieves-Ramos, MD
Dr. Nieves-Ramos is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He received his medical degree from Ohio State University and completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Miami Hospital. Dr. Nieves-Ramos completed his fellowship in pain medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He is a member of the North American Neuromodulation Society, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, American Society of Regional Anesthesia, American Society of Anesthesiologist, and the International Spine Intervention Society.
Physical Medicine and Rehab | Michael Creamer, DO
Dr. Creamer is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He did his residency at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and received his osteopathic medicine degree at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Physical Medicine and Rehab, Pain Medicine | Nilusha Fernando, DO
Nilusha Fernando is a fellowship trained, interventional pain physician who is double board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as the subspecialty of Pain Medicine.Dr. Fernando grew up in southwest Florida and completed her undergraduate studies at Duke University. She subsequently attended medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Temple University Hospital. She also completed extensive fellowship training in interventional spine procedures at Temple University Hospital.Dr. Fernando’s primary goal as a physician is to provide optimal relief and improved quality of life for her patients by utilizing a wide range of balanced treatment options.

Spine Center Manager/Spine Care Nursing Coordinator | Nadia Fakira, RN, BA, MA
Nadia Fakira received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of Windsor and University of Western Ontario. She received her Master of Arts in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario and her nursing degree from Fanshawe College, London, Ontario. Nadia has worked in the thoracic/vascular unit at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario, and in the Neuroscience /Stroke Unit at UNC Hospitals, Duke University Medical Center and Florida Hospital Orlando. Nadia’s experience as a staff nurse, preceptor, mentor and assistant nurse manager prepared her for her current position at Florida Hospital Orlando. As the first spine care coordinator at Florida Hospital Orlando, Nadia educates staff and patients and leads the neuroscience team toward exceptional spinal care for surgical patients.
Spine Care Nursing Coordinator | Kimberly Hamilton, RN
Kimberly Hamilton, RN received her nursing degree from the Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences at Adventist University. She began her nursing career at Florida Hospital Orlando in 2011. Her experience includes five years as a neurosurgical RN, relief charge and preceptor.
Spine Center Intake Coordinator | Merlinda George
Merlinda George has been a part of the Florida Hospital team for seven years. Before joining the Neuroscience Institute, she worked as a Health Unit Coordinator in Ginsburg preoperative services. She holds a certificate in Medical Assisting as well as Health Management and is currently working on her Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration.
